Poland’s Deputy Chief of Mission to the United States Adam Krzywosądzki will speak on April 21 at 6 p.m. about the “Russian Invasion of Ukraine and Poland’s Role as Anchor for Stability in Central and Eastern Europe” in the Erdahl-Cloyd Auditorium, EC-2304, of the D.H. Hill Library at NC State University on Hillsborough Street in Raleigh. The lecture is free and open to the public, followed by a reception hosted by the Polish-American Club of the Triangle featuring traditional Polish food. Campus parking is free and available starting at 5 p.m.

Deputy Minister Krzywosądzki will represent the Polish Foreign Ministry to celebrate a weekend of festivities marking the 75th anniversary of NC State’s College of Design. During his visit to NC State, the College of Design will recognize the creation of the new Maciej Nowicki Polish Architecture and Design Endowment. This endowment will support students and faculty to study Polish architecture, design, art and landscape architecture in Poland or the US.

April 22, 2023 has been named as “Maciej Nowicki Day” by the College of Design.

“We are excited to welcome Deputy Minister Krzywosądzki to campus to celebrate the creation of this new endowment while recognizing one of the college’s monumental founders and first chair of the faculty of architecture at NC State, Maciej Nowicki,” says Mark Elison Hoversten, dean of the College of Design. Among Nowicki’s many achievements is the design of the J.S. Dorton Arena in Raleigh, placed on the national historic registry in 1972.
