Polski Klub w Raleigh i Sobotnia Szkoła Języka Polskiego w Raleigh serdecznie zapraszają wszystkie dzieci i rodziny, a także tych, którzy chcą poczuć nastrój zbliżających się Świąt Wielkanocnych na wspólne POLOWANIE NA PISANKI. Wstęp wolny!

Zabawa odbędzie się 23 marca 2024 roku w Jaycee Park w Raleigh od godziny 14:00 do 16:30.

Prosimy o przyniesienie na każde dziecko uczestniczące w polowaniu 20 jajek wypełnionych małym upominkiem i koszyk. Sobotnia Szkoła Języka Polskiego w Raleigh zasponsorowała 200 jajek!

Dzieci zostaną podzielone na 2 grupy wiekowe:

MALUCHY (3- 6)- rozpoczęcie o godzinie 14:45
STARSZAKI (7+ )- rozpoczęcie o godzinie 15:15

Na ten dzień zaplanowaliśmy malowanie twarzy, konkurs na najładniejszą pisankę, a także wiele innych atrakcji.
Planujemy spotkanie w piknikowej atmosferze, dlatego prosimy o słone i słodkie przekąski, dania, ciasta, napoje, którymi chcielibyście podzielić się z innymi podczas wspólnego spędzania czasu i zabawy. Ze względu na ograniczoną ilość miejsc zachęcamy do zabrania ze sobą rozkładanych krzeseł piknikowych i koców.

Przy okazji będzie można zapisać się do Polskiego Klubu, do czego gorąco zachęcamy tych, którzy jeszcze do niego nie należą!

The Polish Club in Raleigh and the Saturday Polish Language School in Raleigh cordially invite all children and families, as well as those who want to feel the spirit of the upcoming Easter, to join us on an EASTER HUNT. Free entrance!

The event will take place on March 23, 2024 at Jaycee Park in Raleigh from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Please bring 20 eggs filled with a small gift and a basket for each child participating in the hunt. Saturday Polish Language School in Raleigh sponsored 200 eggs!

Children will be divided into 2 age groups:

YOUNGER KIDS (3-6) - starting at 2:45 p.m.
OLDER KIDS (7+) - starting at 3:15 p.m.

For this day we have planned face painting, a competition for the prettiest Easter egg, and many other attractions .
We are planning a meeting in a picnic atmosphere, so we are asking for salty and sweet snacks, dishes, cakes and drinks that you would like to share with others while spending time together and having fun. Due to limited space, we encourage you to bring foldable picnic chairs and blankets.

At the same time, you will be able to sign up for the Polish Club, which we strongly encourage those who do not belong to it yet!

Please celebrate the upcoming Christmas season by participating in our annual, traditional Christmas Dinner.

Traditionally, we will exchange the OPLATEK and sing Polish Christmas songs (KOLEDY) and in addition we will have a wonderful performance of our dancing group POLKI NC.

We will also hold a LOTTERY of donated items. Price of the raffle ticket is $2, 6 tickets $10. If you wish to donate to Lottery, please bring an unwrapped item to the restaurant. Proceeds from the Lottery will support PAC's budget.

If you wish to come, you MUST register by sending an email to the polam.raleigh@gmail.com stating the number of guests, no later than Wednesday, Dec 6th. If you plan on coming, please register ASAP and pay (use PayPal link here or send check to Polish-American Club of the Triangle, P.O. Reminder that a remarkable, one-of-a-kind event of the Polish- American Club of the Triangle is fast approaching. This special celebration of the club's new Maciej Nowicki endowment, along with a talk by Dr. Burak Erdim and Poland's Cultural Attachė Katarzyna Rybka -Iwańska will fill the program.

 We suggest everyone arrive early - by 7:00 p.m. - to find parking and get a seat. Join us to celebrate a great Polish icon and major accomplishment of the club.

 The new Maciej Nowicki Polish Architecture and Design Endowment will support students and faculty to study Polish architecture, design, art and landscape architecture in Poland or the US.

 “We are excited to celebrate the creation of this new endowment and planning conference and exposition while recognizing one of the college’s monumental founders and first chair of the faculty of architecture at NC State, Maciej Nowicki” says Mark Elison Hoversten, dean of the College of Design. Among Nowicki’s many achievements are the design of the J.S. Dorton Arena in Raleigh, placed on the national historic registry in 1972.

Cały dochód ze sprzedaży zostanie przeznaczony na Sobotnią Polską Szkołę w Raleigh. Potrzebujemy chętnych wolontariuszy do pieczenia ciast, pomocy w prowadzeniu i przyozdobieniu stoiska. On October 21, 2023, the Raleigh International Wine Festival will take place. The Polish-American Club and the Polish Saturday School in Raleigh are organizing a stand where you will be able to purchase delicious, traditional Polish cakes. All proceeds from sales will go to the Polish Saturday School in Raleigh. We need willing volunteers to bake cakes, help run and decorate the stand. We will be very grateful for every small support. We strongly encourage you to take part in this event.

  1. Nowicki Endowments Events were successful. Deputy Ambasador Adam Krzywosądzki and NCSU officials participated. We did not reach $50,000 but getting closer.

  2. June 4th picnic was discussed. We are looking for volunteers to help with grilling and playing music. Another zoom meeting is planed on 6/1/23 8pm to discuss the picnic.

  3. Maria’s folk cloths were purchased.

  4. Shelter has been reserved for the Fall Club Picnic on 10/1/2023

  5. Preferred date for Christmas Dinner is 12/10/2023, location the same as last time. We will ask Malgorzata Federkiewicz to make the reservation.

  6. Place for Sylwester - New Years Eve - has been reserved in Club in Raleigh.

  7. Budget was presented - we need more members to pay their dues.

College of Design 75 years events and planned announcement about Maciej Nowicki day during that dinner were discussed. PAC purchased VIP table for that day to ensure that our Honorary Consul, Deputy Ambassador and members who each donated $1000 to the endowment can participate in the event but any member who wants to be part of the dinner can purchase ticket for $75 each.

Polish Minister to speak about Poland’s Role in Defending Ukraine on April 21 at NC State

Poland’s Deputy Chief of Mission to the United States Adam Krzywosądzki will speak on April 21 at 6 p.m. about the “Russian Invasion of Ukraine and Poland’s Role as Anchor for Stability in Central and Eastern Europe” in the Erdahl-Cloyd Auditorium, EC-2304, of the D.H. Hill Library at NC State University on Hillsborough Street in Raleigh. The lecture is free and open to the public, followed by a reception hosted by the Polish-American Club of the Triangle featuring traditional Polish food. Campus parking is free and available starting at 5 p.m.

Deputy Minister Krzywosądzki will represent the Polish Foreign Ministry to celebrate a weekend of festivities marking the 75th anniversary of NC State’s College of Design. During his visit to NC State, the College of Design will recognize the creation of the new Maciej Nowicki Polish Architecture and Design Endowment. This endowment will support students and faculty to study Polish architecture, design, art and landscape architecture in Poland or the US.

April 22, 2023 has been named as “Maciej Nowicki Day” by the College of Design.

Meeting was hold by Zoom to reduce time commitment of the Board and members

 

  1. Focus of the meeting was on the discussion of Nowicki Endowment detailed preparations. Following areas were addressed:

    1. Seed money from the club ($20K from PAC Club and $11.6K from Club members) was deposited to the NCSU College of Design Maciej Nowicki Polish Architecture and Design Endowment.  We are very close to the required minimum $50K funds in NC for the endowment to make it evergreen (going forever) and more effort will be done in the future with the members, Polish embassy, Nowicki family and others to grow to that level------ Hanna Gracz and Wanda Urbanski

    2. Page about Maciej Nowicki and link to all information and ways of donating money to the Endowment is in the process of preparations and should be finished within next week or so ---Piotr Gucwa responsible

    3. Planned visit of Polish Deputy Ambassador on April 21st and 22nd and preparations to that visit were discussed in details. Mariola Kopcinski and her husband agreed to chaperon deputy ambassador for two days. Wanda Urbanski worked with prof. Burak Erdim, from NCSU College of Design, to create very interesting program including visit to the NCSU library, Dorton Arena, Raleigh and RTP area.  Monika Pietron agreed to prepare program with Polish School children to present to Deputy Ambassador

    4. As Deputy Ambassador is planning to have presentation about Political situation in Europe in light of war in Ukraine, PAC is planning to have dinner on April 21st at 6.00 pm at NCSU, details about location will be provided shortly.  All members are asked to participate and sign up for the food which they are planning to bring, preferred traditional polish dishes, but any type will be welcomed.  Signup sheet for dishes will be provided shortly.  Strong presence of the PAC community is very much desired to show support to the Polish Embassy. 

    5.   2. Fall 2024 Maciej Nowicki and Polish Architecture Exhibit and Conference

    1. NCSU agreed to organize together with PAC Maciej Nowicki and Polish Architecture and Design in Gregg’s (NCSU) museum temporary exhibit and permanent digital exhibit (for digital exhibit NCSU has almost all materials already digitalized)

    2. Prof. Burak Erdim proposed conference with key scientists in the Polish architecture to overlap with the opening of the exhibit

    3. Nowicki Family proposed to come to Raleigh at that time and participate in the exhibit opening and conference to combine it with the family events

    4. Prof. Burak Erdim, who will be responsible for the future decisions on the recipients of the awards from the endowment, is planning to write a book about Maciej Nowicki and also to work with Warsaw Polytechnic to strengthen links of Polish architecture with NCSU projects

    5. Board agreed with NCSU to meet after April 22nd to discuss all preparations needed for Exhibit and Conference

  3. Future full PAC club meetings:

    1. April 21st, 6.00pm---dinner with Deputy Ambassador, NCSU, sign up sheet and details about location to be provided shortly

Meeting Notes:

Meeting was hold by Zoom to reduce time commitment of the Board and members

 

  1. Focus of the meeting was on the discussion of Nowicki Endowment preparations. Following areas were addressed:

    1. Seed money from the club ($20K from the bond was cashed and check was prepared for the deposit to the endowment)--- Hanna Gracz responsible

    2. Collection of additional funds from the members was discussed, several members already pledged significant amounts ---Hanna Gracz responsible

    3. Planned visit of Polish Ambassador Deputy on April 21st and 22nd and preparations to that visit---Wanda Urbanski and Mariola Kopcinski responsible to prepare agenda, dinner is proposed on April 21st, Jowita Mikolaczyk and Monika Pietron offered to coordinate the dinner.

    4. Planned lunch meeting with NCSU Department of Design and Architecture professor and administration to discuss preparations to the Maciej Nowicki Day and Exhibit on April 22nd ---Wanda Urbanski, Hanna Gracz and Mariola Kopcinski responsible to meet on March 7th

    5. Contact with Maciej Nowicki son in France, and his family in the USA, to support Endowment and Exhibit---Wanda Urbanski responsible

  2. Discussion and agreement for the location of Sylwester, 2023

    1. Mariola Kopcinski made contact with the Stag Club in Raleigh, and got their agreement that PAC can organize New Years Eve party in their private club

    2. Stag Club is very nice, with good kitchen, three rooms (one major and two smaller) and can easily fit 70 plus people

    3. PAC Club agree to send refundable deposit of $275 to the Stag Club to secure the place for the party---Jowita Mikolaczyk responsible

    4. Potluck party is proposed, with each members brining food and alcohol to keep cost low, details will be discussed later in the year, closer to the event

  3. With incoming meeting with the NCSU College of Design on March 7th, Club members and Board agreed to have follow up Zoom call on March 12th, at 7.00PM to discuss outcome in details and define better all necessary preparations

4) PAC Majówka/Mayday Party

5) Initiative to create an Endowment at NCSU in honor of Macie Nowicki (polish architect, creator of Dorton Arena in Raleigh)

All Participants voted in support of the endowment that will be created by Polish American Club Initiative. Survey provided to PAC members so far came back with 100% positive responses (survey is open until February 20th)

Action Items:

A. Mark Fountain to contact Polish Ambassador about his interest and support and to ensure his presence at the 75 anniversary of School of Design NCSU on April 22nd, where Nowicki was the first department head

B. Mark Fountain to contact Nowicki Family to gain their interest and support

C. Mariola Kopcinski to make sure that all necessary documents are signed by February 21st

D. Wanda Urbanski to organize call for Mariola Kopcinski to discuss ppt presentation and Nowicki day on April 22nd (done)

E. Hanna Gracz to coordinate digitalization of the documents about Mark Nowicki, Mark Fountain, Piotr Gucwa and Adam Grygoruk to support her

F. Hanna Gracz and Mariola Kopcinski to prepare 10-12 slides about Maciej Nowicki, outline of write up for the NCSU newsletter and outline of the text for the legacy page

G. Wanda Urbanski to review the above and provide to School of Design by beginning of March, to have it all published on March 16th

H. Wanda Urbanski to work with NCSU to gain chancellor invitation for Polish ambassador for Maciej Nowicki Day on April 22nd

I. Wanda Urbanski to follow up on table purchase for the event (need to know how many people will come from the family and embassy)

Dear Members of the POLISH AMERICAN CLUB OF THE TRIANGLE,

Please celebrate the upcoming Christmas season by participating in our annual, traditional Christmas Dinner.

WHEN   – Sunday, December 11th, 2022, 4:30 PM

WHERE – SOPHIE'S GRILL & BAR, located in West Park Place Shopping Center, 2734 NC-55, Cary, NC 27519

COST – $60 per person

Traditionally, we will exchange the OPLATEK and sing Polish Christmas songs (KOLEDY)

We will also hold a LOTTERY of donated items. Price of the raffle ticket is $2, 6 tickets $10. If you wish to donate to Lottery, please bring an unwrapped item to the restaurant. Proceeds from the Lottery will support PAC's budget.

If you wish to come, you MUST register by sending an email to the polam.raleigh@gmail.com stating the number of guests, no later than Wednesday, Dec 7th. If you plan on coming, please register ASAP. Children 14 years old are welcome.

You can pay ahead via PayPal or at the door with cash or check.

Credit cards will not be accepted at the door.

Choice of glass of wine or beer. The restaurant has a full bar should you wish additional drinks (not included in dinner price).

    Malgorzata Federkiewicz volunteered to organize the event

  2. Sylwester - New Year’s Party

    New Year’s Party in a hotel is canceled - it did not work because we don’t have enough participants.

  3. International Festival outcome

    Festival was a big success. We had many participants, Polish school earned $1800 on baked goods sale, those money will be used to organize a trip for our children.. Thanks everyone, specially those who baked the goods.

  4. Picnic outcome

    Picnic was a success we had many participants.

  5. Christmas parade Raleigh 2022

    Polish school participated in the Christmas parade on November 19th.

  6. November Happy Hour

    Happy Hour has been canceled because of small interest and other events at this time

  7. Scholarship

    We received one application from Anna Ligezka and decided to forward it to Edward and Maria Majchrowicz.

  8. Other business

    Club donated $1000 to Raleigh Paderewski Festival, organized by Mark Fountain in November 2022.

    Polish school will have Christmas celebration (choinka) on December 17th at Withers Hall, 101 Lampe Dr, Raleigh, NC, room 201. Everyone is welcome.

    Next PAC meeting is scheduled on January 12 2023.
