HIKING CLUB

The idea of bringing people together outdoors and connecting with nature was initiated by Katarzyna Chojkiewicz during one of the Polish Book Club sessions. The idea naturally grew out of the group's interest in Polish literature and conversation about books written by Polish authors, while also addressing the desire to spend more time outdoors and enjoy the natural beauty of the Triangle area. The idea was quickly embraced and supported by Agnieszka Szkudlarek, Vice President of the Polish American Club (PAC).
On March 8, 2025, the first hike was organized at William B. Umstead State Park. At the end of the hike, all participants received a beautiful rose in celebration of International Women's Day, a tradition that has been cherished in Poland for many years.
Since then, the Polish Hiking Club has continued to meet once a month, exploring different parks, trails, and green spaces throughout the Triangle area. The club provides an opportunity for members of the Polish community to stay active, enjoy nature, meet new people, and continue building connections within the Polish community.
What began as a simple idea during a book club conversation has grown into a regular monthly tradition that brings together a community of people who share a love of Polish culture, nature, and outdoor activities.
