  • Raven Rock State Park 3009 Raven Rock Road Lillington, North Carolina, 27546 United States (map)

Dear Hikers,

Our next hike will take place on Sunday, September 6. This time, we are heading to the beautiful Raven Rock State Park in Lillington, Harnett County.

Address: parking next to Visitor Center

3009 Raven Rock Rd, Lillington, NC 27546

Meet-up time: 8:50 a.m.

We will start walking at 9:00 a.m.

Please keep in mind that it takes about an hour to drive from the Raleigh area, so plan your departure accordingly.

Our plan:

Raven Rock Loop Trail – 2.6 miles

This easy and scenic loop takes us to the famous Raven Rock, an impressive rock formation overlooking the Cape Fear River. The distinctive 150-foot rock cliff is one of the park's highlights.

If we still have enough energy and feel like continuing, we can take the Campbell Creek Loop Trail – 4.5 miles, which is rated as a moderate trail. Along the way, we can also visit the area around Lanier Falls, a beautiful section of the Cape Fear River. The official park map also shows an additional 0.2-mile Lanier Falls Trail.

Depending on our pace and how everyone feels, we can finish after the first trail or extend our hike with the additional loop.

The park is located about 40 miles southwest of Raleigh, and there is no regular admission fee for day use.

Looking forward to seeing you on the trail!
